How PNG Stores Print Resolution
PNG files do not use EXIF tags by default. Instead, PNG uses a dedicated chunk named "pHYs" (Physical Pixel Dimensions) that specifies pixels per meter. ImagePrintTools parses this chunk directly to provide exact DPI. Inspect compliance with our 300 DPI checker, embed resolution chunks using our DPI converter, or learn more about print standards in what 300 DPI means.
Frequently Asked Questions
PNG uses lossless DEFLATE compression, which preserves crisp transparent backgrounds, sharp typography, and solid line art without blurry JPEG artifacts.
